'The State of Global Lung Cancer Research', a ground-breaking study commsissioned by the GLCC, was published on 6th July 2016 in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology.
The GLCC commissioned the Institute of Cancer Policy (ICP), experts in the study of research systems, to examine the state of global lung cancer research to understand what research is being carried out in lung cancer, by whom, and to ascertain if and where further investment can be made.
The study team was led by Dr Ajay Aggarwal, of the ICP, King's College London. The study findings are intended to guide public policy and highlight where improvements can and should be made. The GLCC has produced a global briefing
setting out the overall findings and a number of more detailed country level briefings
Key findings include:
- The 24 countries that are responsible for the majority of research into lung cancer
- How research output has changed
- The types of research that are being undertaken
