GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer presents Solange Peters, MD, PhD, with the Bonnie J. Addario Lectureship Award.

July 29 2019 – The award recognizes Professor Peters’ work in lung cancer biomarker discovery and validation, as well as clinical immunotherapy.

“As an organization committed to breaking barriers and saving lives, we are proud to present Professor Peters with the 2019 Bonnie J. Addario Lectureship Award for her tireless commitment to the lung cancer community,” Bonnie J. Addario, co-founder and chair of GO2 Foundation, said.

“Combined with her pioneering research, Professor Peters’ efforts to close the gender gap in oncology will bring needed talent and perspective to lung cancer research and treatment and improve the lives of those impacted by the world’s deadliest disease for generations to come.”

Professor Peters is head of medical oncology and chair of thoracic oncology at Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudiois in Switzerland. She has been elected president of European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) for 2020-2021. She also is chair of ESMO’s Women for Oncology Committee, which supports and mentors women in the field and helps them advance their careers.

“Professor Peters is a woman for all seasons: outstanding clinician, clinical investigator, translational scientist and an extraordinary leader. Most of all, patients always come first with her. She epitomizes what the ancient Greeks called ‘arete,’ being the best you can be,” David R. Gandara, MD, director of the thoracic oncology program at UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and 2010 recipient of the Bonnie J. Addario Lectureship Award, said.

The GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer — which formed when the Lung Cancer Alliance and Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation merged — honored Professor Peters at the International Lung Cancer Conference, held July 25-27 in Huntington Beach, California.
